100 CONVERTIBLES FOR THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF INDEPENDENCE
I’ll never forget the tears of the elderly people standing in the street… But from the beginning, the idea of organizing a parade through the streets of the city is never, to anyone, associated well. Well, unless only to those who take part in it. There are many reasons for this, the multitude of cyclical running, cycling, motorcycle events cause traffic exclusions, traffic problems for residents and many other impediments, such as the recent running event that fit perfectly into the so-called “traffic”. Communion period effectively blocking access of families with children to churches. Much would be written about the treatments that would relieve the burden of possible. injured or forms of prevention in such situations, however, one must clearly answer, whatever we do – there will be little and a parade of 100 cars in the center of the city, even if they are without a roof and parading for a good cause, is a challenge, a challenge we have faced. Since it was already difficult at the start, we decided in unison that… WE DO IT!
The commemoration of the 100th anniversary of independence and the May 2 Flag Day celebration formed the basis for this parade. None of us, the people working on the organization of the event on behalf of CABRIO POLAND, knew that in our country, in many cities, local government units, city officials and residents themselves, are outdoing each other in breaking records for the longest flag, parade, etc.
We were simply counting on a common movement and positive vibes from owners of roofless cars – and well, because the team did not disappoint and the parade itself was met with great interest from many new convertible owners, who, disregarding the so-called “good”. “long weekend” decided to take part in this initiative.
I know that any activity that detracts from free time always becomes a collision, more than once I came across phone mails, autoresponders, etc. during this time, but what began to happen a week before the event is already a conviction bordering on certainty that for the first time in the history of our country, we will celebrate both the anniversary of independence and the holiday of the flag, proudly and with open roofs and that, no “long weekend” will prevent this.
As a team we were bursting with pride when the parking lot in front of the Provincial Office in Poznan began to fill up, and once we left for the parade route, it was difficult to hide our emotions… The emotions that we had to see and experience during the parade, groups of elderly people standing in the street, sometimes in wheelchairs, waving to us with faces on which you could see tears is an amazing sight that probably cannot be forgotten. We knew from the beginning that this was not just a convertible parade, that there was more to it than that, and it was that more that was of paramount importance this time.
More than 100 convertibles and their owners showed strength, power and positive energy! The convertible town hosted a hot pea soup, although there were reportedly not enough spoons for everyone! There were musical performances, Poland’s first Cabriolet Post Office and, of course, prizes and among them a model of a 1918 open armored car which a modeler from Model World Berlin prepared especially for the occasion. In two words-good fun!
To everyone who was there, who we met, who supported and helped, to everyone who shared and informed about the event, thank you beautifully on behalf of myself and the entire team.
AND NOW CONCRETE!
The event wouldn’t have happened without the initiative and support of the teams from the Provincial Office in Poznań and the Lotto brand, both of which are a huge amount of work and cost to put together. Absolutely invaluable, as we expected, turned out to be the help of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Poznan and the Municipal Police Headquarters in Poznan in both cases their actions had a direct impact on the end result of the event – a capital support on the road. We hope that such a non-standard form of celebrating important events and State anniversaries, will become a custom in our country, a good custom.
