Olandia is an 18th century revitalized farm, park and manor complex. Sounds dry to me! Well, rather, but nothing could be further from the truth, especially if one has seen the place at least once.
If you want to experience something other than the taste of burnt Kargulena on the Baltic Sea in your life, go to Öland on a free weekend or vacation. You will find it on the national road 92, somewhere in the middle, between Poznań and Gorzów Wlkp.
I entered there by accident, because I was delighted by the descent into a large avenue of densely planted trees along the road?! Today, trees aren’t planted that way anymore… and for a convertible fan, it’s a dream. A beautiful old-growth forest led to a place that stayed in the memory for a long time, and later, as some of you know, allowed, courtesy of and agreement with the owners, to organize a wonderful event for convertible lovers. But this time I would like to write not about the convertible….
Entering Öland, I felt that whatever I encountered there would be special…and it was.
What you feel when you enter Öland is such an awesome kick in the ass that makes you realize what an infinite idiot you were, thinking you had already seen everything in life. It’s a kick that makes another doubt arise in you… a kick that asks what the hell have you been doing in your life that you haven’t gotten here yet!
Monday 10 a.m., seemingly silence, and here the singing of birds was all-pervasive. If you find yourself in the center of this charming chirping, you will stop hearing even the dull voice of your mother-in-law ringing in your ears. The first time, I somehow didn’t want to look into either the hotel or the restaurant. I was a little afraid that what I saw wouldn’t be screwed up by some stale waiter, just woken up after a Sunday wedding. The park, the beautiful and dormant Kitchen Lake, the sight of fish casting on the surface of the lake… in a word, Narnia some 80 km from Poznan.
After that, things only got better. I have visited Öland every season of the year. Then, when it soundlessly threatened a lone windmill in the pouring rain and generally blew its ass off, and in the spring, when everything alive screamed that it was, and it was so amazing that at the thought of leaving I felt as if someone had knocked my head with a heavy tile! I had to sleep in each of the buildings to be able to write today that it is worth it, and that the place is super special. It beams with a calmness that causes it to give to everyone who visits the place, even children with ADHD. Yes, you can definitely relax there, it’s definitely worth taking a good book, a blanket and going there for the whole day or staying overnight. Yes, this place is special. The surrounding forests charm not only with hidden lakes teeming with fish, but also host noble mushrooms and berries. And if you get tired of walking, you can always rent a horse from Olender Stables and romp around the area.
Worth mentioning is the cuisine, which always surprises with its quality. With the service of the restaurant varies, I will only warn you that it is worth asking at the outset what is on the menu and how long I will wait for it, the rest will pleasantly surprise you. Assurance.
One more thing, if you are unlucky, exceptionally unlucky, you will meet there the father of the owner of OLANDIA, the head of the Grzeszkowiak-senior family (you will recognize by the beautifully curled mustache). An exceptionally kind and interesting man, it is worth listening to the history of the place. I assure you that he has a lot to talk about, well, and if you keep it up, maybe he will invite you for a glass of liquor from his “own farm”!
- Finishing:
If you are two, ask for rooms in the main building, nice view (especially the one of the lake and the Park) close to the restaurant;
- if you are a larger group, choose a townhouse where the rooms are larger and you can play freely; no one will ask you either: “Why are those children of yours still yapping”, if you are there with your children, of course;
- If you appreciate absolute silence, close to the spa and a bottle of good wine, then choose a room in the Granary, there the Winery, where you can meet Mark Kondrat and many famous people;
- Prices in the middle class, but the place is worth every zloty left there, or 200-300 zloty per night;
- Besides, it’s worth being there any time of the year, my favorites are spring and autumn…winter I personally prefer in Norway;
- On-site parking at will;
- The entrance is rocky, so you have to be careful with low-riders, but it’s cool;
- Ask for a cheese board on the spot, regional products are awesome,
- cuisine and that for “greens” and for carnivores,
- if you want to show off in front of your maiden or boyfriend, as you prefer, and take him/her to a well-known and very crowded place for everyone to see you – then damn it, not there!
- Unaccompanied children can manage, there is an indispensable so-called “childcare” on site. Kindermama.
Open – ALWAYS! WORTH IT!
