Rolls Royce is releasing another already luxurious convertible model, but in this case, the Aero Cowling model has no room to transparently display a new handbag from Louis Vuitton or Ferragamo on the back seat! But, in order to explain, perhaps, the legitimate fancies of the manufacturer and to cool down a bit the opinions about the car that have appeared on the web, it is necessary to go back a little to 2019 which turned out to be an all-around phenomenal year for RR, for 2019 was the best in the 116-year history of the company!
The RR brand, delivered as many as 5152 cars to its customers in more than 50 countries around the world, an increase of 25% over the previous record of 2018, all this meant that RR did not have to look at an Excel table to know whether it could afford to launch with an open roof, and they were unlikely to care about the opinion of “whiny” silver credit card holders! This is a Rolls Royce Dear Sir!
Since the appearance of the flagship convertible has been whining on the web quoting:” why does anyone need a two-seater RR?” “I can’t take my friends…” “This rear looks like an overlay for a plastic clop” these creative after all opinions were of course many, usually commented on the practicality of the solution, only who the hell driving a Rolls Royce has pragmatism in mind! Who cares about taking a Rolls Royce for a hitch or sharing rides in BlaBlaCar!
As they say, we don’t talk about tastes, however, you can’t accuse the Aero Cowling of lack of class, elegance or strength, the only thing that puzzles is the time of opening the roof… 22 seconds. On the brand’s website, which I encourage you to visit because it causes a faster heartbeat as soon as you enter, those 22 seconds appear as a perk, to me a dubious one. One thing is indisputable, in 22 seconds the world around you changes, and you don’t have to sit in a new Rolls Royce model at that time, but in nothing you will feel that plush silence of a quiet interior like a “fat Rolls Royce” And I wish you that!
PS. You will ask why do I need a RR convertible/coupé version? I’m already answering, because you can have it and that’s the whole philosophy!
