I came across the event under the mysterious as it were name of Truskawisko, in 2016, then together with Tomasz Stube, rolling out the route for the first edition of CABRIO POLAND, we came across a manor house or rather a square in front of the manor house near Witkow, full of beautiful classic and vintage vehicles, their owners lazily as for us sipped coffee, ate cake and chatted without paying attention to our presence. After 30 min. interacting with them, with this automotive and atmosphere that surprised us, we left with the conviction that we wanted something different, but what we found is mega cool! Unquestionably.
Two years pass and a friend calls me with an invitation to participate as a pilot because he is going to…Strawberry. To participate and not to organize! Good idea, I agreed gleefully, as I usually stand on the other side of the barricade. The start of the event took place in a place well known to lovers of both classic cars and convertibles, the Czerniejewo Palace or more precisely, the square in front of the palace, which was filled with antique and classic cars and…sounds from a real catharine! 10/10
You could feel the passion at every step, and it is about this that I will write a few words. I live with the conviction that nothing special happens in life if you don’t do it out of passion, it’s what gives uniqueness to the mundane collection of posters from “Youth World “or old bicycle lamps, it’s what causes layers of emotion to open up to the point where you forget about the present, the so-called “present”. The current of daily life.
During this Sunday’s outing, this passion, was felt at every turn, grandparents with grandchildren, whole families multigenerational participated in discussions over… cars! The Strawberry Festival allowed me to meet people who live a passion for motoring just as we live convertibles, those for whom every, even the smallesthe lower component in their car was of particular importance. Miraculous, yes I know, miraculous is the water of Lichen, but I will repeat miraculous, was the experience when the team and I reached the village of Ławki. Do you think wtf? Where the hell is the village of Benches, don’t worry, I didn’t know the village of Benches existed either, for the record after Wikipedia (Ławki – a village in Poland located in Wielkopolska province, Gniezno county, Trzemeszno municipality. From 1975 to 1998, the town administratively belonged to Bydgoszcz Province. Birthplace of Hipolit Cegielski).
After parking our cars, we were crewed to refreshments, but it was more than that, full tables of baked “homemade” yeast cakes from a choice of flavors to color, the smiles of the elderly ladies who managed it, the so-called “bakery” . “Piggy jam” with pickles and the ever-present atmosphere of home meetings-cosmos! It’s not about the food itself and what the people who took us up produced around us, we should give thanks that there are still people in the world who can build such relationships. Before leaving the Benches, a man approached us asking if we enjoyed our stay with them and if everything tasted good! He said that now for 100 years no one will come to them with so many beautiful cars! Can you imagine that! It is for such moments that the organizers certainly do these events, for these emotions and experiences. It left me speechless.
There were many more attractions and competitions along the route, historical puzzles, agility trials, topographical rebus, in a word, a whole Sunday full of excitement, but as I will reveal all of them, there may not be this element of surprise next year.
All in all, Truskawisko is an idea to spend a very pleasant Saturday among friendly people full of passion and love for their machines, I’m sure I’ll be at the next Truskawisko next year, even if I had to fly in on an iron (because I still don’t have my classic and the Z3-ojka will be only 22 years old). Wojtek Jórga (let’s hope I don’t kick the name) and Tomasz Kaczor, who invited me as a pilot! Beautiful thanks to.
