GENERAL INFORMATION
This beautiful country on the Black Sea is an increasingly popular vacation destination. It’s a good idea to learn the rules and regulations of the road before you leave, so that your dream vacation won’t be too costly.
The document for entry into Bulgaria is an ID card valid for 6 months or a passport valid for a minimum of 3 months.

REGULATIONS AND PENALTIES
- Only people who are at least 18 years old can drive a vehicle
- From November 1 to March 1, the use of dipped headlights is mandatory 24 hours a day
- Seat belts must also be used by rear seat passengers if installed in the vehicle
- if you are traveling in a car that you do not own, you must have a notarized power of attorney translated into Bulgarian, English, French or German
- In winter, anti-slip chains can be used in specially marked areas
- When entering Bulgaria, customs officials make a notation in the passport regarding the vehicle. A trip in another car will be treated as an illegal import of a vehicle.

ROAD TOLLS
In Bulgaria, a purchased vignette entitles you to drive on highways. The price of a vignette depends on the vehicle category. The natural border between Romania and Bulgaria is the Danube River, and can be crossed by ferry or bridge, both of which have tolls.
